Win a coaching session with Helen Ward by supporting Cymru in December

Local schools and football clubs are encouraged to support Cymru in the key UEFA Women’s Nations League matches in December against Iceland and Germany and will be entered into a special prize draw with exciting prizes.

Those that enter their ticket application before November 10 will be entered into a draw for a coaching session with Cymru legend Helen Ward at your club or school. There are also other prizes on offer including training equipment such as footballs, bibs and cones.

Cymru will play Iceland on Friday 1 December at the Cardiff City Stadium (19:15 KO) followed by Germany Tuesday 5 December at the Swansea.com Stadium (18:30 KO).

Over the last two years the FAW has seen a significant increase in group bookings from clubs and schools to support Cymru. Former Cymru Gwennan Harries, who is also a PE teacher, has been organizing group bookings for Ysgol Glantaf and says the experience has been a huge benefit for their pupils.

“At Ysgol Glantaf we are always looking at further opportunities to inspire our pupils and promote positive role models. With the games being so accessible and affordable, we’ve absolutely loved supporting Cymru throughout their World Cup campaign and now the Nations league. At times we’ve brought whole year groups who are new to the school (years 7 and 12) in order for them to socialise and make new friends, whilst normalising the visibility of women’s sport and female role models to boys and girls.”

In 2019, Martha Appleby fell in love with the team when she was a mascot for the match against Northern Ireland at Rodney Parade and will be attending the match against Germany at the Swansea.com Stadium with her club Pontarddulais.

“In 2021, my club took to 25 supporters to watch Cymru play. This grew in later matches to 30, then to 162 and in December we are taking our highest number of supporters yet to the Swansea.com Stadium – 203 girls and their families!”

“The girls and I can’t wait to see more from Gemma and the team. The Pontarddulais girls just love being part of the Red Wall.”
